Why Microchip?
A microchip is a small, electronic device that is implanted just beneath your pet’s skin, between the shoulder blades. Unlike collars and tags, which can fall off or be removed, a microchip is a permanent form of identification that stays with your pet for life. Each microchip carries a unique identification number that can be read by a scanner, allowing veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and other agencies to quickly access your contact information through a secure database.
The Implantation Process:
The microchip implantation process is quick, safe, and relatively painless, much like a routine vaccination. Dr. Anita uses a sharp, sterile needle to insert the microchip, ensuring that the procedure is as comfortable as possible for your pet. There’s no need for anaesthesia or recovery time, and your pet can go about their normal activities immediately after the procedure. She does recommend no swimming or baths for 24-48 hours after implantation.
Peace of Mind:
In the unfortunate event that your pet becomes lost, a microchip greatly increases the chances of a safe return. Shelters and veterinary clinics routinely scan lost animals for microchips, and with your updated contact information in the microchip registry, you can be quickly notified if your pet is found.
Lifetime Security:
Once implanted, a microchip provides lifetime security for your pet. It requires no maintenance and will remain functional for the entirety of your pet’s life. Dr. Anita also ensures that the microchip is properly registered with your correct contact information, and she can guide you on how to update your details if you ever move or change phone numbers.
A Small Investment for Big Peace of Mind:
Microchip implantation is a small, one-time investment that offers significant peace of mind, knowing that your pet has a secure, permanent form of identification. Whether your pet is prone to wandering or you simply want to take every precaution to keep them safe, microchipping is a responsible and effective choice.
